The Rook

At its core, The Rook is an intriguing synthesis of supernatural drama, espionage thriller, and vivid mystery. Originally premiered on Starz in 2019, the eight-part series is based on the novel of the same name by Daniel O'Malley. Emma Greenwell stars as the lead character, Myfanwy (rhymes with "Tiffany") Thomas, around whom the plot extraordinarily swirls.

Adrian Lester, playing the 'King' of the Checquy, is teeming with gravitas and charm. Joely Richardson gives an engrossing performance as Linda Farrier, Myfanwy's cool and calculating superior. The remaining cast also convincingly portray their respective roles, bringing a palpable humanity to their extraordinary characters.

The Rook's plot progression is cleverly paced, integrating scenes of tense intrigue, slick action, and cerebral puzzles as the series winds its way towards the climax.
