Dream On

Dream On is an HBO sitcom about everyman Martin Tupper, a middle-aged, recently divorced father facing the trials of modern life and finding comfort in old movies and television shows he can relate to. Brian Benben plays Martin, a neurotic New Yorker who has recently returned to the dating scene after his marriage fell apart. He lives in an apartment with his teenage son, who’s growing up fast in the big city. He works as an editor for a small book publisher, where he dreams of success but runs into obstacles every day. Through all his trials, Martin has flashbacks to movies and television shows, where he looks for direction and courage in the face of adversity. Sometimes, though, Martin spends so much time imagining fiction that he loses his grip on reality. Dream On aired for six seasons in the early 1990s and captured the hearts of viewers and critics with its bold and adult-friendly portrayal of one man’s many mid-life crises. MORE
