EastEnders is a long-running British soap opera on BBC that started airing in 1985, but is still one of the most watched shows in the United Kingdom today, attracting viewers of all ages. The show is set in the fictional Albert Square in the rough East End of London. The show revolves around the lives of Albert Square’s inhabitants, whose relationships, familial, romantic, and platonic, are the focus. EastEnders takes realistic situations and adds drama, intrigue, and extra complications. Characters come and go, but the show always centers on a couple of strong families, whose realistic, even if overblown, trials and tribulations earn the empathy of viewers everywhere.
