The Love Boat

The Love Boat was a show on ABC where passengers and crew aboard the cruise ship Pacific Princess looked for love with the help of Captain Merrill Stubing, “Your Captain” (Gavin MacLeod). The other crew includes “Your Ships’s Doctor” Dr. Adam “Doc” Bricker (Bernie Kopell), “Your Yeoman Purser” Burl “Gopher” Smith (Fred Grandy), “Your Bartender” Bartender Isaac Washington (Ted Lange), “Your Cruise Director” Julie McCoy (Lauren Tewes), the captain’s daughter Vicki Stubing (Jill Whelan), and “Your Ship’s Photographer” Ashley “Ace” Covington Evans (Ted McGinley). The crew and passengers work through their love problems and had romantic and comical adventures together, often becoming entangled in each other’s mishaps. Viewers could come along for the ride as marraiged were mended, old romances rekindled, and the crew played matchmaker to make sure that true love would prevail by the time the ship docked. The long-running series featured well-known actors in guest roles, and famous film stars making rare tv appearances. The Love Boat was known for its self-titled theme song, sung by Jack Jones. MORE
