NYPD Blue is the ABC police drama series that follows the cops of the 15th precinct of Manhattan, with an ensemble cast including detective Connie McDowell (Charlotte Ross), lieutenant Tony Rodriguez (Esai Morales), detective Diane Russel (Kim Delaney), detective John Kelly (David Caruso), detective Jill Kirkendall (Andrea Thompson), and Detective Sergeant Andy Sipowicz (Dennis Franz). John Kelly and Andy Sipowicz are partners in the 15th squad, Kelly is the younger partner who looks up to Sipowicz, but has trouble dealing with his heavy drinking and volatile behavior. When Sipowicz is shot by a suspect, Kelly is teamed up with James Martinez, a young copy from Anti-Crime. Kelly is going through a divorce with his wife, and having an affair with fellow cop Janice Licalsi. When Licalsi's family connections try to order her to kill Kelly, his life and hers both become in danger. The show became a hit, airing for 12 seasons and earning multiple Emmy, Golden Globe, and Screen Actors Guild awards.
