Avatar: The Last Airbender

Avatar: The Last Airbender, also known as Avatar: The Legend of Aang, is the Nickelodeon animated television series which follows Aang and his friends as they try to save the world by conquering the evil Fire Lord. Human civilization is divided into four nations, Water Tribes, Earth Kingdom, Air Nomads, and Fire Nation. Within each, there are men and women called Benders who can manipulate their element, combining martial arts and mysticism. In each generation one person is the Avatar, the spirit of the planet in human form, and is able to bend all four elements. 12-year-old airbender Aan learns he is to come the new Avatar, but is fearful of the responsibilities and flees, but ends up frozen in his Avatar State in an iceberg. When the evil Fire Lord kills the Avatar Roku, he realizes the next one will come from the Air Nomads, and launches a genocide against them so he can find and kill the next Avatar and have world domination. When water-bending Katara and her brother Sokka free Aang, they must train Aang in the remaining elements to defeat Fire Lord and save the world. The show has lead to a trilogy of video games including Avatar: Legends of the Arena, and has a live action feature film on the horizon which is being directed by M. Night Shyamalan. MORE
