American Gothic is a CBS horror television series created by Shaun Cassidy and starring Lucas Black as Caleb Temple, a young man torn between his evil father and the advice of his righteous sister. Gary Cole plays Caleb's twisted father, Sheriff Lucas Buck. Sheriff Buck runs the small town of Trinity, South Carolina. Despite a warm and affable personality, the Sheriff has sinister powers that he uses to manipulate the people around him. The series begins with the orphaning of young Caleb Temple, as his father kills the remaining members of Caleb's foster family. Alone, Caleb begins seeing his sister's ghost as she returns to the land of the living to protect Caleb from his father's corruption. As Caleb tries to grow up honest and escape becoming evil, too, a few upstanding townsfolk are noticing bizarre trends in the small town and getting closer to exposing Sheriff Buck as an evil man.
