George Harrison

George Harrison was famous across the world as the lead guitarist of the Beatles. Known as the 'quiet Beatle' he was fascinated by Eastern mysticism and introduced it to the other members of the Beatles. He was born in Liverpool England on February 25th 1943. Harrison became part of the Beatles back when they were all still just a skiffle group called the Quarrymen. He was considered too young by Lennon to be in the group, but by the time Harrison turned 15 the others let him in. He came in number 21 in 'Rolling Stone' magazines list of the 100 greatest Guitarists of all time. He composed several Beatles songs including 'Something,' 'Here Comes the Sun,' and 'While my Guitar Gently Weeps.' After the Beatles broke up Harrison had a successful career both as a sol artist as well as a film and record producer and member of 'The Traveling Wilburys.' He died of lung cancer in 2001. MORE
