Billy Joel

Billy Joel (full name William Martin Joel) is a famous American singer songwriter, classical composer, musician and pianist. He was born in the Bronx on May 9th, 1949 and grew up in Hicksville, New York. His first hit was the song Piano Man in 1973 after he was signed to Columbia Records. He has become the third best selling solo artist in the United States and the sixth best selling recording artist of all time, having sold over one hundred and fifty million records world wide. Billy Joel has had thirty three top 40 hit songs from the 1970s all the way to the 1990s, all of which he wrote himself. He has been nominated for twenty three Grammy Awards, having won six. in 19928 he was inducted into the Songwriter's Hall of Fame and in 1999 was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Joel stopped recording pop music in 1993 but continues to tour with his older famous songs. MORE
