Making Mr. Right is a VH1 reality television dating show from 2013, blending elements of romance, psychology, personal transformation, and even subtle drama. The chosen men include shy professionals, cocky playboys, and kind-hearted artists, each with their unique defining qualities. They are ostensibly participating in a self-improvement and personal development program designed to transform them into the dream guys of these women, under the guise of a "relationship retreat".

Under the women's guidance, these men experience an array of tasks, exercises, and challenges aimed at making them more appealing and desirable. The tasks range from improving their listening skills, to enhancing their confidence, to better understanding the female psyche. Most importantly, they are expected to drop any pretentious facades and express their genuine selves, which creates a variety of humorous, emotional, and heartwarming moments.

The women mentors undergo their journey of growth and transformation as well. As they guide these men through various challenges and tasks, they are unknowingly revealing their deepest desires, insecurities, and expectations in a relationship. Hence, the women, too, learn about themselves through the show: what they truly want from a relationship, where they might be going wrong, and how they might better themselves as potential partners.

Dr. Kimberly Moffit, a relationship expert, is the overseer of the entire program who guides the participants, both the men, and women, throughout the journey. With her unobtrusive observation and expert intervention when needed, she ensures that the process is fulfilling for everyone involved. She plays a key role in translating the experiences, lessons, and interactions from the program into actionable insights about dating, relationships, and personal growth for the participants.
