Josie and the Pussycats was an animated television series that aired from September 12, 1970 to January 2, 1971. Created by Dan DeCarlo, the show is based on a comic book series of the same name. Josie and the Pussycats was about an all-girl pop music group that got caught up in mysteries and strange adventures while touring the world. Each episode featured a different antagonist, usually a mad scientist, spy or criminal, who is trying to take over the world. The group consisted of lead singer Josie McCoy (Janet Waldo), tambourine player Valerie Brown (Barbara Pariot) and drummer Melody Valentine (Jackie Joseph). Other characters on the show include: Alexander Cabot III (Casey Kasem), the group's manager, Alexandra Cabot (Sherry Alberoni), Alexander's sister and their roadie Alan M.Mayberry (Jerry Dexter).
