Meanwhile, on Earth, Hector Hammond, a scientist and acquaintance of Hal, is tasked with performing an autopsy on Abin-Sur's body, which ultimately leads to his gaining psychic powers and transforming into a monstrous being. Hammond becomes the main antagonist in the movie, as he uses his new powers to wreak havoc on Earth while also trying to capture Hal and steal his ring. As the conflict between Hal, Hammond, and the Green Lantern Corps intensifies, Hal must learn to master his powers, overcome his fears, and discover what it truly means to be a hero. His journey takes him to the planet Oa, the headquarters of the Green Lantern Corps, where he meets other Lanterns, including Sinestro, the leader of the Corps who becomes an ally and a mentor to Hal.
