Debris is a compelling science fiction television show that aired on NBC in 2021 and was created by renowned producer J.H. Wyman, well-known for his work on Fringe. The series is an invigorating mishmash of science fiction, mystery, and drama, augmented with a smattering of suspense and intrigue which captivates the viewers from the onset.

Set in the not-too-distant future, the series revolves around an evocative theme - the derailment of an alien spacecraft. The incident ensues in an avalanche of debris falling onto the Earth, scattering over the Western Hemisphere. This intense narrative beguiles its viewers into the mysterious interplanetary journey posed by Debris.

The wreckage from the spacecraft, which are fragments of alien technology, are the core of the show's plot tension. Their discovery reveals phenomenal capabilities, radically altering the laws of physics and causing an array of inexplicable phenomena. The debris pieces seem to possess unparalleled, transformative properties, influencing time, matter, and space in unimaginable ways. Their presence invites ardor curiosity and prompts the characters to grapple with mind-bending enigmas and threats.

Debris unfolds its storyline primarily through the lens of two charismatic protagonists, two agents from different continents with distinctive backgrounds and experiences. British agent Finola Jones, portrayed by Riann Steele, is a passionate and smart officer specializing in the handling of international relations and diplomacy. American agent Bryan Beneventi, played by Jonathan Tucker, is a former CIA operative who has a deep understanding of military protocols and operations.

As the story progresses, they team up to investigate mysterious incident cases related to the debris. Their imperative mission underpins the need to locate, recover and analyze the scattered debris before malevolent forces exploit it for nefarious purposes. The stark contrast in their approaches, perspectives, and temperaments set a dynamic character interplay and pave the way for emotional growth and transformation during the show's run.

Their distinct personalities do not only enhance the narrative tension but also offer an engaging human element to the series, blending interpersonal drama with overarching suspense seamlessly. The agents’ challenges extend beyond mere professional boundaries, engulfing personal testimonials, and moral dilemmas. The ramifications of the unique debris are not confined merely to physical changes but also seep into the emotional and psychological realm, raising existential questions about life and humanity.

The show thrives on a well-conceived plot augmented by strong character development and dynamic story arcs. Each episode unravels a unique debris-related phenomenon, contributing to the unraveling of a larger, underlying narrative. There's a growing sense of intrigue, as every episode plays like a standalone story while simultaneously contributing to a broader, more complex narrative that unfolds gradually.

Debris’s story, while deeply embedded in science fiction, is also about exploration, discovery, and the eventual struggle between those who seek to protect humanity and those who prioritize personal gain. The series manages to raise philosophical and ethical questions, subtly interweaving events with themes of duty, responsibility, and the vast potential of unknown powers.

Visually, Debris is equally appealing, with impressive special effects that are deployed to enhance the narrative rather than dominate it. The production value is commendable, mirroring the visually striking and textured cinematic aesthetics one associates with high-budget sci-fi series. Additionally, the compelling performances by Steele and Tucker bring a heightened sense of realism to the fantastical premise of the series.

In summary, Debris is more than another entrant into the science fiction television genre. It keeps viewers engaged with mix of procedural drama, layered characters, thought-provoking themes, and a captivating underlying mystery that is carefully unveiled. It combines elements of suspense, intrigue, human drama with speculative fiction, making it a must-watch for fans of thought-provoking, character-driven science fiction. Well rooted in its genre, Debris explores new territories of storytelling making it a unique offering in the world of television.
