Van Helsing

The movie Van Helsing, lasting two hours and twelve minutes, starts off in Transylvania in the year 1887. Dr. Frankenstein has succeeded in creating his monster, much to the delight of Count Dracula. Count Dracula provided Dr. Frankenstein with a laboratory so that he could do his experiments. But what Dr. Frankenstein wasn't aware of was that Count Dracula was a blood thirsty vampire who only wanted the monster for his own evil deeds. Once Dr. Frankenstein finds out, he is horrified by what purpose his creation will be used for. Count Dracula quickly disposes of him, much to the dismay of the monster, who had grown attached to his creator. An angry mob storms the laboratory, and the Monster leaves carrying his dead master. They travel to a windmill where the villagers burn them both. One year later we are in Paris. The famous monster hunter Van Helsing, played by Hugh Jackman, is fighting Dr. Jekyll on the top of Notre Dame. He succeeds in killing him, however, his orders were to bring him in alive to try to save the good half. Van Helsing has a reputation as a murderer and is a wanted man in most of Europe. He is given a new task by the Vatican to go out and destroy Dracula. It turns out that 450 years prior, a Knight by the name of Valerius, had made a promise to God that his family wouldn't rest until Dracula was vanquished. Now, in 1888, there are only two living descendents in the Valerius family. The Church acknowledges how the family has sacrificed in order to keep evil at bay, and does not want the bloodline to die out and leave them all to Purgatory. Van Helsing travels to Transylvania and is greeted by villagers holding an array of weapons. They do not like strangers, as Princess Anna Valerius, played by Kate Beckinsale, informs him. Soon enough, the brides of Dracula descend on the town, attempting to kill Anna and be closer to ending the Valerius family for good. Van Helsing is able to take down one of the vampires and saves Anna. However, instead of rejoicing, the town is angered. They explain that vampires kill only what they need. Now, they will be killing out of revenge. Filled with vampires, werewolves, monsters, holy water and garlic, The movie Van Helsing combines many creatures of the night into one action filled movie.
