Spring Breakers

Spring Breakers is a multi-layered and quite complex American crime film released in 2012. Renowned independent director Harmony Korine helms the film that features an ensemble cast of young actresses who the world came to adore in their previous family-friendly roles. These leading ladies include Selena Gomez, Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Benson, Rachel Korine, and they are joined by an unusually cast James Franco in the main role. Regardless of the illegal shortcut, they take the money and set off to experience the time of their lives in St. Petersburg, Florida.

The girls get to fully experience the exhilarating spirit of spring break with beach parties, dance-offs, and endless revelries. However, their adventure takes an unexpected turn when they get arrested for drug use. Their predicament leads them to cross paths with an eccentric, cornrow-headed drug dealer, rapper and wannabe gangster Alien (James Franco) who offers to bail them out in exchange for their companionship. As the movie progresses, complex dynamics develop between the girls and Alien, with the lines separating fun, friendship, obsession, and danger gradually blurring.
