Picket Fences is a CBS drama about a peculiar town in Middle America, starring Tom Skerrit, Kathy Baker, and Holly Marie Combs. Skerrit plays Sheriff Jimmy Brock, an honorable lawman in Rome, Wisconsin. Rome is a tough town for a sheriff. Cows are giving birth to human babies. The Mayors are constantly turning out to be criminals, and a few people have turned up dead in freezers. Sheriff Brock maintains order as best he can. Baker plays Dr. Jill Brock, Jimmy's wife and the town doctor who also has her fair share of occupational oddities in the strange Wisconsin town. Picket Fences dealt with as many difficult and bizarre subjects as it could, including transsexuality, polyamory, spontaneous human combustion, cryonics, and fetishism. The series was created by David E. Kelly, who also created Chicago Hope, The Practice, Ally McBeal, and Boston Legal.
