Silver Spoons

Silver Spoons is a half hour situation comedy from NBC that aired between 1982 and 1986. The show centers around the relationship between Ricky Stratton played by Ricky Schroeder and his father Edward Stratton III played by Joel Higgins. Edward is the wealthy owner of a toy empire called Eddie Toys, but is in some financial trouble. He is an overgrown kid, who is not very mature. His house is full of kid's toys, including many video games and a toy train that runs throughout the house. Ricky arrives at Edward's house in the first episode, meets his father and announces that his mother (Edward's ex-wife) is sending him to military school. Edward takes Ricky in which sets up the rest of the show. Ricky is often the more mature of the pair, but is a child, so learns important lessons along the way. Some of themes and lessons are school bullies, drinking, dyslexia, abuse among others. The cast also includes Kate, Edward's personal secretary who is played by Erin Gray. The beautiful Kate and Edward stumble towards a relationship and eventually marriage. Edward's father, played by John Houseman also makes periodic appearances. Finally Jason Bateman had apperances in the series as Derek Taylor, a friend of Ricky's. MORE
