Scarecrow and Mrs. King is an American espionage television series that aired from 1983 to 1987 on CBS. Lee Stetson (Bruce Boxleitner), codename "Scarecrow," is a top-level secret agent for "Agency," a CIA-type organization. After encountering divorced housewife Amanda King (Kate Jackson) at a train station, he inadvertently loops her in to the whole top-secret spy thing. A romance eventually takes seed and so does Mrs. King's interest in the spy business. A naturally curious type, Mrs. King becomes more and more involved in the Agency's operations until she eventually become a full agent. The series enjoyed an exceptionally warm reception from viewers and critics, winning an Emmy in 1986 and receiving several additional Emmy nominations, as well as nominations for other awards. It probably would have lasted for more than four seasons if not for Jackson's development of breast cancer. Due to her illness, the role of Mrs. King was severely reduced in late episodes of the fourth season and, as soon as the season was finished, the show was canceled.MORE
