Wonder Pets!

Wonder Pets is a kids television series airing on Nickelodeon's Nick Jr. block following the adventures of Linny the Guinea Pig, Turtle Tuck, and Ming-Ming Duckling, three preschool class pets who go around the world on their FlyBoat and help animals in need. Once their tin can phone rings, they cease being classroom pets and start their journey to help baby animals. The show teaches kids the value of teamwork, as the animals don't have any special powers and must accomplish their goals by working together. The Wonder Pets fail on their first few attempts before realizing that they only need to apply solutions from the classroom, further teaching children the value of persistence in solving problems, The show is similar to a mini-opera, as much of the dialogue is sung to the scores of a real orchestra. The show is also notable for its use of a distinct animation style called “photo-puppetry.” The animators use photos of real animals and manipulate them to create the movements of the characters, combining drawings with photography.
