Mrs. Danvers seems to have a sinister agenda especially when she shows the young bride Rebecca's bedroom and encourages her to wear one of her dresses. As the story progresses, the young bride begins to grow fearful of her position in the house and feels like she is living in Rebecca's shadow. She feels like the house is haunted by Rebecca's ghost which makes her feel uncomfortable and paranoid. As she tries to adapt to life at Manderley and win over the hearts of the staff, she is also drawn into the mystery of what really happened to Rebecca. Rebecca is a beautifully shot and well-acted movie, that has an old-world charm and elegance to it. The costumes and sets are stunning and add to the overall beauty of the film. The standout performances were from Kristin Scott Thomas, who depicted the icy and calculating Mrs. Danvers with a sinister edge, and Lily James, who plays the young and vulnerable bride perfectly. The chemistry between Armie Hammer and Lily James was also outstanding, and their love story is heartwarming and touching.
