As a result, they decide to take matters into their own hands, and become vigilante cops, seeking justice on their own terms. What follows is an action-packed thrill ride with plenty of humor, as Thoreau and McClure try to bring down Brimmer and his gang. Their unorthodox methods include staging a fake drug deal, crashing a fancy party, and using a variety of disguises to infiltrate Brimmer's operation. Through it all, they stick together and fight for what they believe is right, even when they face resistance from their own colleagues. Although the film has its share of shootouts and car chases, it is also a character-driven story that explores the friendship and loyalty between the two main characters. Weller and Hays have excellent chemistry on screen, and their banter and bickering add to the film's overall comedic tone. Smith also has a memorable supporting role as their supervisor, who tries to rein in the rogue detectives. Fifty/Fifty may not be the most groundbreaking or profound film ever made, but it is an entertaining action-comedy with a lot of heart. It never takes itself too seriously, and it always keeps the audience engaged with its fast-paced plot and likable characters.
