The District

The District is a CBS police drama starring Craig T. Nelson as Chief Jack Mannion of the Washington D.C. Police Department (MPDC). Chief Mannion has a complicated personal life, made even more complicated by his daily trials and troubles trying to run his department amidst a city overrun with crime and bureaucracy. The MPDC struggles with internal corruption. In a city full of criminals and politicians, there are often more factors at work than mere right and wrong, and the laws get twisted around so much it's hard to tell good from bad. Chief Mannion is on a mission to reorganize the police force, ushering in a new era of justice for the troubled city. This thrilling series is based on the real-life experience of New York Deputy Police Commissioner Jack Maple, who was one of the men responsible for the development of the revolutionary CompStat program that revitalized the NYPD. The District is co-written by Terry George, who has received Academy Award nominations for Best Writing twice; once for In the Name of the Father in 1993, and again for Hotel Rwanda in 2004. MORE
