Noble is a heartwarming biopic drama from 2014 that showcases the life of Christina Noble, who is played by Deirdre O'Kane. The film is directed and written by Stephen Bradley and produced by Stephen Bradley, Melanie Gore-Grimes, and Pierce Boyce. Noble tells the story of Christina Noble, a woman whose life has been filled with hardships and struggles. She grew up in a poor family in Dublin and lost her mother at a young age. Her father was an alcoholic and often abused her and her siblings. Christina also suffered from sexual assault and domestic violence as a young woman, which made her determined to help others who have experienced abuse. The movie begins in 1989, where Christina is already an adult with children of her own. One day, she hears a news report about the bleak state of the street children in Vietnam. Moved by their plight, she decides to dedicate her life to helping them. She eventually convinces her boss to give her time off from work and travels to Vietnam alone. When Christina arrives in Vietnam, she is shocked by the poverty and suffering of the children. She encounters many obstacles along the way but persists in her desire to make a difference. She starts by creating a shelter for the children where they can receive food, clothing, and education. As the years go by, Christina's work expands and she sets up a foundation named after herself - 'The Christina Noble Children's Foundation', which helps underprivileged children across various countries in Asia and Africa. Throughout the movie, we see flashbacks of Christina's past that add depth and context to her character. We learn about her close relationship with her father despite his flaws, her escape from home to London at the age of 18 and her struggles as a single mother in a foreign country. Her past experiences give us an understanding of her character and also make her journey to help children more inspiring. The movie is incredibly well-acted, especially by Deirdre O'Kane who portrays Christina's resilience and determination with authenticity and warmth. Sarah Greene, who plays Christina's daughter, also delivers an excellent performance, showcasing the complicated mother-daughter relationship. The cinematography is beautiful, especially the shots of Vietnam's stunning landscapes and bustling cities. The score by Giles Martin (son of the legendary Beatles producer, George Martin) complements the visuals and adds to the film's emotional intensity. Overall, Noble is a touching and inspiring movie that shows the importance of empathy, generosity, and a willingness to make a difference in the world. It is a tribute to Christina Noble, who has truly made a remarkable impact on the world's most vulnerable children, and a reminder that even one person can make a difference.
