Dream a Little Dream

In the 1989 film Dream a Little Dream, we follow the lives of two very different high school students, Bobby Keller (played by Corey Feldman) and Dinger (played by Corey Haim). Bobby is a popular jock who is dating Lainie Diamond (played by Meredith Salenger), the girl of his dreams. Dinger, on the other hand, is an outsider who gets bullied at school and lives with his grandfather (played by Jason Robards).

One day, after a strange accident, Bobby and Lainie find themselves in the bodies of Dinger and his crush, the beautiful aspiring actress, Julie (played by Victoria Jackson) while Dinger and Julie find themselves in Bobby and Lainie's bodies. With the help of Bobby's neighbor, Coleman Ettinger (played by Harry Dean Stanton), the four teenagers are able to communicate with each other in their dreams as they try to figure out how to switch back to their own bodies.

As they spend more time in each other's bodies and learn more about one another's lives, they begin to gain a new appreciation and understanding for each other. Bobby and Lainie discover that there's more to life than just popularity and material possessions, while Dinger and Julie learn that there's more to life than just chasing their dreams.

Dream a Little Dream explores themes of identity, empathy, and the importance of living in the present moment.
