Time Chasers

In Time Chasers, we meet Nick Miller (played by Matthew Bruch), a mild-mannered amateur inventor and professor at a small college in Vermont. Nick's passion project is a time machine that he has been working on for years. When he finally finishes it, he decides to test it out by traveling back in time to the year 1777.

To fund his research, Nick has entered into a contract with a shady businessman named J.K. Robertson (Peter Harrington), who now wants to exploit Nick's invention for personal gain. Robertson has been secretly funding Nick's work and demands that Nick demonstrates the time machine to him. Nick reluctantly agrees, realizing too late the nefarious intentions of his investor.

With the help of his girlfriend, Lisa Henson (Bonnie Pritchard), Nick quickly realizes that traveling through time may be more dangerous than he anticipated. After a series of misadventures and close calls, Nick discovers that his time machine has the power to change the course of history, and that Robertson has been using it to change the past for his own gain. Nick and Lisa must race against time to set things right and stop Robertson from destroying the future.

The movie, directed by David Giancola, is a classic B-movie Syfy Channel-esque tale that delivers an entertaining, if not entirely coherent, story. Its low-budget approach adds to its quirky charm, with some hilarious special effects that remind us of classic sci-fi movies from the 1950s.

Despite its low budget and dated special effects, Time Chasers manages to be both entertaining and engaging. It's an enjoyable ride for fans of sci-fi and adventure movies. It has its moments of pure silliness, but it maintains a good sense of humor throughout, creating a cult classic vibe.

The cast does a pretty good job of taking their roles seriously, even when the plot veers towards the absurd. Matthew Bruch, in particular, is quite impressive and likeable as the film's protagonist, Nick. He manages to deliver a convincing portrayal of an amateur inventor who is in way over his head. Bonnie Pritchard is also lovely as Lisa, Nick's love interest, and is a necessary presence to keep Nick grounded. Peter Harrington as the evil Robertson gives a convincing performance and serves as a perfect adversary to Nick's nerdy hero.

Time Chasers is a great trip down memory lane for fans of sci-fi and adventure movies from the early 90s. The plot may be shaky at times and the special effects may seem dated, but it's still a fun and nostalgic romp through pop culture. It's a movie that can be enjoyed for being silly and entertaining, and for what it is - an endearing low-budget sci-fi affair.
