The Violators

Brogan Ellis plays the role of Rachel; mysterious and affluent, she appears to be everything that Shelly isn’t. Rachel's world is a stark contrast to Shelly's. She dwells in affluence and security, far from the strife and struggle that marks Shelly’s life. However, the two form an unlikely friendship born from each other's longing for a taste of a different life, shattering the class barrier in the process.

Stephen Lord steps into the shoes of Mikey, a local loan shark who is also an outcast of society. His character is cunning and menacing yet manages to maintain a veneer of charm at times. His visit to Shelly creates a blend of anxiety and anticipation, which serves to enhance the undercurrent of the film.

The movie masterfully uses the stark contrast between the somber tone of brightly colored dilapidated resorts and Shelly's bold determination to survive. The rustic charm of the chipped paint of rundown shops and the lonely, almost eerily quiet beaches add an omnipresent grim atmosphere in the movie.
