The Mattei Affair

An innovative blend of documentary and fiction, The Mattei Affair tells the true story of Italian businessman Enrico Mattei who defied the authorities to hold onto his oil business in the aftermath of the Second World War. The movie seeks to investigate the mystery surrounding the life and death of the businessman through interviews with those who knew him and fictionalized scenes from his life. Throughout the movie the director, Francesco Rossi, is also seen searching for one of the films researchers who disappeared in mysterious circumstances during filming.
