Ritu has always been compared to her mother, this has done nothing but increased her insecurities. Consequently Ritu doesn't trust her mother and always suspects her, this gets further amplified when she falls in love with Sunny in college and her mother tries to find about him. This doesn't go well with Ritu who resents her mother's interference and misunderstands her intentions.
