Towards the end of the Second World War, in 1945, the story of "Profumo de Venezhia" takes place. In a village in the countryside (60 km from Venice), a group of partisans demands hospitality for some nights, to a family of farmers. The farmers don't want to be involved in their riots. They don't feel any difference towards Partisans, Fascists, Germans or Americans; the war is not their business, it's a metropolitan business. The partisans try to explain that their rebellion has a good cause: to bring democracy and freedom in Italy. The farmers listen to their reasons but don't change their minds, especially the old ones, while the youth has some doubts about it. The poverty has had them exhausted and they dream about escaping from that rural world to enjoy the good things of modernity and the metropolitan life, like Cinema, a train journey, a fragrance ("profumo" in Italian).
