Halloween magic and witches around, Hocus Pocus is truly an inspiring tale of love and witches. The film was directed by the highly acclaimed director Kenny Ortega and it was produced by two people: Steven Haft and David Kirschner. The wonderful story of Hocus Pocus was created by: Mick Gams and Davis Kirschner. But, movie’s magic is brought by the cast who brought the Halloween spirit to the film including: Sara Jessica Parker, Better Midler, Kathy Najimy, Omri Katz, Vinessa Shaw and Thora Birch. The genre of Hocus Pocus is a mixture of lighthearted comedy, action and mild terror. The film is about 98 minutes long and during that time, viewers are taken on a wonderful adventure about loyalty and the lengths a boy will go to protect his sister and people he loves. The plot of the move is centered on a brave boy called Max who, without wanting to, accidentally resurrects a family of three witches who are sisters called The Sanderson Sisters. The Sanderson Sisters are known for sucking out the life of the town’s children, leaving them to die. The witches become interesting in taking the life of Max’s eight year old little sister, Dani. Max will do anything to protect the life of his sister, so he sets of to destroy the witches with his crush, Allison and his sister by his side. Throughout the move the three protagonists encounter several things such as a black cat who used to be a teenager in the 1600’s, a ditzy and friendly zombie and of course, The Sanderson Sisters. This movie brings action, intrigue and of course, plenty of Halloween spirit. The characters of the film include the following: Winifred Sanderson: Evil and insecure, Winifred, or Winnie as her sisters always calls her, is an overdramatic witch. She is the most intelligent of the sisters and she is the oldest, too. She is the leader of The Sanderson Sisters, and she is always scheming. Sarah Sanderson: She is the youngest and most physically attractive of the sisters and, as a result, she is constantly flirting with guys, even with a zombie. She is the dumbest of the sisters, but she is very useful because she has the ability to attract children to The Sanderson home. Mary: She is the middle sister of the group, and she is very observant. Max: He is the main hero of the film who is dedicated to saving his sister and crush from the evil witches. He never believed in Halloween; in fact, he always hated it. Dani: She is Max’s brave 8 year old little sister. Allison: She is a beautiful girl who is Max’s love interest. She is a great addition to the team because she has extensive knowledge of the town’s history.
