They must kill the Italian soldiers and then impersonate them. It is a difficult situation but they are holding on until one of their own soldiers is mysteriously murdered. In war many times capturing an enemy camp is worth the effort. That is the rationale behind the work of these soldiers. All goes fairly well until one of them is murdered.
