After a while of not seeing each other, Nick and Helena cross paths again, and Nick invites her to a party he is hosting. Helena reluctantly agrees to go, and at the party, Nick drugs her and takes her back to his house. He then proceeds to amputate her arms and legs, keeping her captive in his home. As the story progresses, Nick's obsession with Helena increases, and he becomes more and more delusional. He starts to believe that Helena is in love with him and that she will never leave him. Nick's nurse, Anne Garrett, played by Bill Paxton, becomes suspicious of Nick's behavior and starts to investigate.
