Monk is a detective television show from the USA Network about obsessive-compulsive police detective Adrian Monk (Tony Shaloub), who, with the assistance of Nurse Sharona (Bitty Schramm), is able to overcome a nervous breakdown and solve crimes again. Monk grew up with his OCD, but manages to overcome it and become a great homicide detective for the San Francisco Police Department. His life is turned upside down by the death of his wife, Trudy, by a car bomb that was meant for him. After living as a shut-in for three years, he rejoins the force, but his quirks and tics have grown more pronounced. Monk has 312 fears, and they often interfere with his investigation and cause awkwardness for himself and those around him. Nonetheless, Monk is called upon by Captain Leland Stottlemeyer (Ted Levine) and Lieutenant Randy Disher (Jason Gray-Stanford) to handle cases that require his keen sense of observation and attention to detail. These traits allow him to form connections and identify patterns that others can’t and are his greatest asset when solving a case. In later seasons, Mr. Monk gets a new assistant named Natalie (Traylor Howard), and Monk and Natalie solve cases while continuing to look clues to in the death of Monk’s wife.MORE
