The Bad and the Beautiful is a 1952 film starring Kirk Douglas and Lana Turner that is based on Charles Schnee's "Ladies Home Journal" short story "Tribute To A Bad Man," published in 1951. Jonathan Shields (Kirk Douglas) is a ruthless Hollywood movie producer known for his willingness to lie, cheat, and step on anyone who gets in his way. This story is told in a series of flashbacks and voice-overs by an actress (Lana Tuner), a screenwriter (Dick Powell), and a Southern Belle (Gloria Grahame) who is married to the screenwriter.
