Norma Rae is the acclaimed 1979 classic drama that made us really like Sally Field, directed by Martin Ritt (Hud, The Spy Who Came in from the Cold, Hombre). Norma Rae (Field, Ms. Doubtfire, Forrest Gump) is a single mother of two, living with her two parents in a small town in the south of the United States. The textile industry is the major employer and entire families work there. But the pay is bad, the workplace unsafe and work long and hard. Then, directly from New York comes Reuben (Ron Liebman, Slaughterhouse Five), a union-organizer, to unite the workers and start their own union.
