The Naked Jungle

In the 1954 movie The Naked Jungle, based on a story by Carl Stephenson, Charlton Heston plays Christopher Leiningen, a wealthy plantation owner who lives in the jungle of South America. Mr. Leiningen hires a mail-order bride, Joanna (Eleanor Parker), to come and live with him in his remote jungle home, hoping for a partner to share his life with.

Initially, Joanna is hesitant to join Mr. Leiningen, but eventually decides to take the challenge, upon which she makes the long journey to South America. However, upon reaching his plantation, Joanna soon realizes that life in the jungle is not only difficult but dangerous, as the plantation is located on the banks of a river crawling with flesh-eating ants. With the rainy season fast approaching, Mr. Leiningen must get his workers to prepare for the impending swarm of ants, or risk losing everything.
