Rebellious Flower, a biographical film released in 2016, beautifully incorporates true events and storytelling to depict the epic journey of spiritual Guru Rajneesh Osho. The film begins by introducing us to Raja, a young boy, represented brilliantly by child actor Prince Shah. Raja is the representation of Osho's childhood. From an early stage, we see Raja’s thirst to understand the deeper truths of life, beyond the superficial and the ordinary.

Portraying the teenage years of Rajneesh, Shashank Singh gives an intense performance. Throughout this phase of his life, he meets three influential personalities that will leave an indelible mark on him. The movie effectively uses these characters to throw light on the diametrically opposed but equally profound philosophies that shape Rajneesh's path. Shashank Singh successfully portrays the inner turbulence experienced by the protagonist as his ideas and beliefs take shape.

Mantra Mugdh skillfully portrays the adult Osho's life, presenting an enchanting fusion of a softly assertive and spiritually elevated individual. Mugdh does an excellent job of diffusing the lingering impression of a traditional spiritual Guru and instead crafts a new-age, rebellious spiritual leader – a depiction that stays true to Osho's image as most of us know it.

The title Rebellious Flower does an excellent job of metaphorically encapsulating Osho's life journey. Rebellious, for his refusal to accept anything he could not personally experience, something that often brought him headlong into conflict with traditional mindsets and concepts. Flower, because of his philosophy about freedom and non-attachment, which he compares to a flower: It grows, but never in any particular direction. It simply moves where the wind takes it.

The film, directed efficiently by Krishan Hooda, provides a captivating view of Osho’s early life, and the circumstances and influences that lead him towards his spiritual calling. This is further complemented by a well-written script by Jagdish Bharti, who delivers thought-provoking dialogues that effectively convey the essence of Osho's teachings.

Rebellious Flower is not solely a movie about Osho; it is a universal tale of our journey through life – the struggles, the battles, the growth, the enlightenment, and above all, our constant struggle with the self. Rebellious Flower does a commendable job of exploring this conflict without taking sides. It neither undermines traditional religious beliefs nor favors the uncharted path chosen by Osho.

Besides its profound narrative, the film is backed by some fantastic cinematography. The rustic charm of India during the mid-1900s is portrayed with an authentic feel, and the colors are so rich and vibrant that they breathe life into each frame.

Music is utilized sparingly and effectively throughout the movie. It is subtle, complementing the narrative, and creating the right mood without overshadowing the dialogues or the storyline.
