Poms is a 2019 comedy-drama starring Diane Keaton, Jacki Weaver, and Celia Weston. The film follows Martha (Diane Keaton), a woman who moves into a retirement community and decides to start a cheerleading squad with her new friend Sheryl (Jacki Weaver).

Martha is a former high school English teacher who moves to Georgia to live in the Sun Springs retirement community. She is looking for a new start after being diagnosed with cancer and receiving the news that she has very little time left to live. Martha's plan is to spend the rest of her life enjoying the retirement community and catching up on all the things she missed out on during her teaching career.

On her first day at Sun Springs, Martha meets her eccentric neighbor Sheryl. Sheryl is a free-spirited and outgoing woman who is always looking for her next adventure. She convinces Martha to join her in starting a cheerleading squad for the residents of the retirement community. Martha is hesitant at first but eventually agrees to help Sheryl and the two women set out to recruit members for the squad.

The recruitment process is not an easy task, as most of the residents are either too old or too tired to participate. But Martha and Sheryl are determined to make the squad a success, and they finally manage to convince a few of the residents to join. The squad consists of Olive (Pam Grier) a former professional dancer, Alice (Rhea Perlman) a grumpy widow, and several others who are eager to join in on the fun.

The squad's practices are full of ups and downs, with several mishaps and challenges along the way. But Martha and Sheryl are determined to make it work and the squad eventually starts to come together. They name themselves the "Sun Springs Sunbeams" and even get uniforms made. The Sunbeams perform at a few events and initially receive a warm response, but they soon discover that not everyone is supportive of their new hobby.

The head of the Sun Springs HOA, Vicki (Celia Weston), is against the squad and makes it clear that she thinks they are a nuisance. She tries to shut them down, but Martha and Sheryl are not deterred. They continue to practice and perform, hoping to show the other residents and Vicki that they can still have fun and be active in their old age.

As the squad prepares for their big performance at the Sun Springs talent show, Martha's health starts to decline. Her cancer has progressed, and she is not sure if she will be able to make it to the performance. The other members of the squad rally around her and offer their support, determined to make the performance a success in her honor.

Overall, Poms is a heartwarming film about friendship, perseverance, and the power of positivity. Diane Keaton and Jacki Weaver both give fantastic performances and have excellent chemistry on screen. The film tackles themes such as aging, death, and illness with sensitivity and humor while also celebrating the joys of life in later years. Poms is a delightful and uplifting movie that is sure to leave audiences feeling inspired and entertained.
