Joe returns to his hometown after being locked up for a heist that went wrong. He soon realizes that he can't spend the rest of his life in that small town and plans to go away. He rekindles a love affair with an old flame, the femme fatale, who is now married. They both plot to rob her husband, Joe, and leave town together. Joe suspects the affair is going on and confronts Holden about his wife. He proposes to Holden to murder her for money. Holden tries to play both sides, but when Joe appears during an attempt to break into his safe, things go awry.
