The Fighting Kentuckian is a 1949 film about a group of exiled officers and their families living in the Alabama territory. Colonel Georges Geraud (Phillip Dorn) and General Paul De Marchand (Hugo Haas) lead the group of struggling settlers, and turn the new area into a thriving community called Demoplis. While on a shopping trip, the general's daughter Fleurette (Vera Ralston) meets a young Kentucky rifleman named John Breen (John Wayne). He falls for her, but she is already coveted by the powerful Blake Randolph (John Howard).
