In Harm's Way

In Harm's Way is a film adaptation of a novel by James Bassett about the aftermath of the Pearl Harbor attack during World War II. After the devastating Japanese attack at Pearl Harbor, Captain Rockwell Torrey (John Wayne) is assigned to command a small fleet of Naval vessels. His mission to retaliate against the Japanese ends in disaster for the U.S. Navy, and Torrey is demoted to a desk job under Commander Paul Eddington Jr. (Kirk Douglas). There he meets Maggie Haynes (Patricia Neal), an attractive nurse who informs him about his son, Jere (Brandon De Wilde), who is also in the Navy and stationed on Gavabutu Island. Torrey sees a chance to reconnect with his son and works diligently to prove his worth to Commander Eddington. His hard work pays off, and he receives a promotion and a new assignment on Gavabutu Island. Torrey must juggle the complex relationships between Maggie, Eddington and his son while leading the attack on a chain of Pacific Islands held by the Japanese. MORE [EDIT]
