The Devil's Own is a 1997 film directed by Alan J. Pakula and is the story of an IRA gunman who moves to New York City and brings a welcoming American family into the crossfire of terrorism. Frankie McGuire (Brad Pitt) moves from Ireland to New York and adopts the pseudonym Rory Devaney. While in New York, McGuire stays with Tom O'Meara (Harrison Ford), a New York City cop who is completely oblivious to McGuire's actual line of work. When McGuire and O'Meara become closer, McGuire then struggles with the tension between having a legitimate friendship with his newfound family or his allegiance to the IRA.
