Angel and the Badman is a 1945 western directed by James Edward Grant. When outlaw Quirt Evans (John Wayne) is running from the police, he succumbs to exhaustion and faints on the property of a kind, Quaker farmer named Thomas Worth (John Halloran). Thomas's daughter Penny (Gail Russell) is instantly attracted to Quirt and tries to teach him about the non-violent morals of her Quaker family. Although Quirt is reluctant to accept their peaceful ways at first, he finds himself slowly adapting to them as he falls in love with Penny. He begins to help the family farm the land, and he even resolves a conflict that they have with their cantankerous neighbor, Frederick Carson (Paul Hurst).
