24 Hour Party People is a British film that chronicles the rise of Manchester's music scene from 1976 to 1992. Written by Frank Cottrell Boyce, the film follows Tony Wilson (Steve Coogan), a reporter for Granada Television and the head of the famed Factory Records. While the film is based on actual history, much of the story is written solely from the imagination of Boyce, with Wilson narrating throughout. The film discusses the rise of major musical acts of the times, including Joy Division, New Order, A Certain Ratio, The Durutti Column, and the Happy Mondays.
