Waxwork II: Lost in Time

Waxwork II: Lost in Time is a 1992 horror comedy film directed and written by Anthony Hickox, and is the sequel to the 1988 film Waxwork. The film stars Zach Galligan as Mark Loftmore, Monika Schnarre as Sarah Brightman, Martin Kemp as Baron Frankenstein and Bruce Campbell as John Loftmore. The story follows Mark, who is trying to rescue his girlfriend Sarah from the clutches of the evil waxwork, which transports its victims to different worlds or periods in time.

The movie begins with Mark and Sarah escaping from the first film's waxwork museum, where Sarah had been turned into a vampire. The limousine is a time machine containing a group of adventurers, who are attempting to right historical wrongs by travelling back in time and changing the course of history.

As the group travels through time, they are pursued by a merciless villain known as The Collector, played by David Warner, who is determined to stop them at any cost. The Collector is also the owner of the waxwork museum, and he is seeking to turn Sarah and Mark into wax figures for his collection.

The story takes the group through various time periods and places, including ancient Egypt, medieval times, and a World War II battle. Along the way, they encounter a variety of characters, including Baron Frankenstein, played by Martin Kemp, who offers to help them in their quest to get back to their own time.

Throughout the film, Hickox uses his skillful directorial touch to create a blend of humor, horror, and adventure. The special effects and makeup are expertly done, and provide a creepy and believable atmosphere. One standout example is where the evil villain of the movie, The Collector himself, is sent flying through the different movie scenes and everyone he comes across finds his company unbearable.

However, there are times when the movie seems to be trying too hard to achieve the same success as the original. The comedy writing can appear somewhat forced as the film attempts to balance horror with humor, and jokes that land one moment might seem cheesy the next.

Overall, Waxwork II: Lost in Time is a fun, entertaining movie that is worth checking out if you are a fan of horror comedies.
