The Soul of Bread

He appreciates Amy's natural talent for kneading dough and concocting unique pastry goods and wishes she could accompany him back to France.

Brad's sudden entry into Hengchun and his budding interest in Amy leaves Gao-Bing feeling insecure. Despite being a skilled baker himself, Gao-Bing does not have the same level of recognition that Brad does, making him feel inferior. This sparks a healthy yet fierce rivalry between the two in pursuit of winning Amy's love and the title of the town's top baker.

Amy, on the other hand, faces an internal conflict regarding the choices she will have to make: her childhood love, Gao-Bing, with whom she shares countless memories and a deep emotional connection, versus the newly arrived, ambitious breadmaker who offers her a fresh perspective on life and the chance to expand her horizons beyond Hengchun.
