Samantha is a movie starring Martha Plimpton. Samantha is an extremely accomplished concert violinist who, on her 21st birthday, learns that she is adopted. This revelation so upsets her understanding of her world that she quits playing music entirely right before her biggest concert. She seeks refuge with a childhood friend and begins the search for her birth parents. This search takes over her life to the point that she does not realize she is losing touch and hurting everyone.

Samantha is finally able to locate her biological parents who, unfortunately for her, are emotionally distant. However, they are both accomplished musicians in their own right.
