Underground film-making legend George Kuchar (Hold Me While I'm Naked!, I, An Actress) has been making films with his students at the San Francisco Art Institute since 1971. Operating on micro-budgets, everyone is involved in the process with students often rotating between roles such as acting, lighting detail, wardrobe design, makeup, extra, wind producer, etc... 'Orphans' was shot during the making of 'Orphans of the Cosmos' (2008) with an eye on capturing Kuchar at work, but also the great fun and sometimes awkward experiences by the young students working on these films.
