Night of the Comet

In the 1984 sci-fi horror movie Night of the Comet, a comet passes by Earth and causes most of humanity to turn to dust. The story follows two sisters, Regina (Catherine Mary Stewart) and Samantha (Kelli Maroney), who survive the apocalypse and must fend off various dangers while trying to find other survivors.

Regina is a tough, street-smart 18-year-old who works at a movie theater and has a crush on a fellow employee named Larry (Michael Bowen). Samantha is her younger sister, who is more girly and obsessed with the idea of finding a handsome boyfriend. When the comet passes by, both sisters are inside a steel shed and are shielded from the blast that transforms most people into dust.

The three of them eventually discover a government facility where scientists managed to survive by staying in a specially designed bunker. They encounter Dr. Carter (Geoffrey Lewis), who tells them that the survivors have been forced to live on canned food and recycled air for years, and that the government is planning to experiment on them.

The three of them manage to escape the facility and meet up with a group of scientists who are determined to stop the government from conducting experiments on the remaining survivors. Together, they devise a plan to destroy the facility and save humanity.

Night of the Comet has often been compared to another popular '80s movie, The Terminator. Both movies feature a post-apocalyptic world where a few survivors must band together to fight off dangerous threats. However, while The Terminator was primarily an action movie, Night of the Comet mixes genres, blending in elements of comedy and romance.

Overall, Night of the Comet is a fun and entertaining movie that takes a unique spin on the typical zombie apocalypse story.
