Where to Watch Manners in School
Grade-schooler Larry is surly and sulky when reminded it is his turn to clean the chalkboard during recess. Imagine his surprise when stick figure Chalky the Chalk Drawing comes to life, informing him, "You need some advice on how to become a regular guy. Everyone who knows you thinks you're rude!" It only takes a few minutes' instruction for Larry to turn that frown upside down and become a minor model citizen. This was one of numerous educational shorts directed by Herk Harvey (who would later go on to direct a sole commercial feature now considered one of the all-time-great indie horror films: 1962's dreamlike CARNIVAL OF SOULS). - Dennis Harvey
